April 21, 2022: As per tradition, the town of Salsomaggiore Terme is once again the ideal setting to welcome the departure of the crews of Terre di Canossa, the driving experience to discover the enchanting Matildic lands. Heart of the Italian Liberty style and located in the center of two unique excellences, the Motor Valley and the Food Valley, Salsomaggiore Terme is ready to start the regularity rally across Emilia, Liguria and Tuscany.
During registration and scrutineering at the historic Grand Hotel Salsomaggiore, international crews arrived in order to collect their kits and display the four-wheeled jewels while awaiting the official start.
In the evening participants will join the fairy-tale atmosphere of the Tabiano Castle, built at the beginning of the 11th century and considered one of the most important defensive monuments in mediaeval time in Emilia. In this historical and suggestive context, participants will taste the typical dishes of the Emilian cuisine, known worldwide and prepared for the Gala opening dinner by the Michelin-starred Chef Massimo Spigaroli.
On Friday 22, at 8.00 a.m., the cars will line up in Piazza Berzieri in front of the renowned thermal baths and at 8.30 a.m. the Italian flag will wave and let the race begin. Starting from the center of Salsomaggiore Terme, the cars will proceed through the rolling hills of Parma, stop in Borgo Val di Taro and then reach the picturesque Porto Venere, a UNESCO World Heritage Site together with the islands of Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto. This year the participating cars will parade in front of the sailing ships and historic submarines of the Maritime Military Arsenal in La Spezia and finally head towards Barga, in the green heart of Garfagnana.
