Terre di Canossa 2022: Day 1

From Salsomaggiore Terme to Barga

April 22, 2022: After the cars presentation in the majestic setting of Piazza Berzieri in front of the famous Thermal Center, the 2022 edition of Terre di Canossa officially started. As usual, the Tricolor flag was waved by Luigi Orlandini, chairman and CEO of Canossa Events, to greet and wish the many participants a safe and pleasant journey. The marvelous four-wheel jewels together with the blazing modern Ferraris set off to discover the beautiful landscapes of Emilia, Liguria and Tuscany.

The crews immediately headed towards the hairpin bends of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, full of charm and curves. After a short coffee break in the welcoming town of Borgo Val di Taro, participants reached the Cento Croci Pass and faced a series of challenging time trials. The next stop was the picturesque and colorful Porto Venere, where the crews indulged in the fascinating atmosphere of the seaside resort. After lunch started a specially organized boat tour to admire all the splendor of Porto Venere, UNESCO World heritage site together with the islands of Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto.

The experience continued in La Spezia for the spectacular and exclusive passage inside the Maritime Military Arsenal, one of the main bases of the Navy and important maintenance center for vessels. Here the crews made a parade in front of the Amerigo Vespucci, the “most beautiful ship in the world”. From La Spezia the cars passed through the city center of Castelnuovo Garfagnana and then arrived at the elegant Fortress of Mont’Alfonso, built at the end of the 14th century as the last garrison of the Duchy of Ferrara, for an evening immersed in the fascinating and green Serchio Valley.

The crews of the 2022 edition of Terre di Canossa will stay this year for the first time in the romantic city of Barga, a corner of paradise nestled in the countryside of Lucca. Tomorrow, on Saturday, April 23, the second leg will set off from Barga at 9.00 am. The cars will cross the art cities of Lucca and Pisa and head towards Forte dei Marmi, the pearl of Versilia.
