May 8, 2026: After the Thursday evening opening at the Twiga Beach Club in Forte dei Marmi – one of the most glamorous locations in Versilia – the spotlight this morning was on the 75 registered crews, who officially kicked off the “super-touristic” regularity event with a spectacular start from Piazza Marconi.
The event featured high-profile vintage cars, including, just to name a few, the 1931 Aston Martin Le Mans, the 1937 BMW 328, the 1952 Ferrari 225 S, a 1952 Lancia Aurelia B20, a 1954 OSCA MT4, and the 1961 Mercedes 300 SL Roadster. The most iconic brands in automotive history were represented, such as Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Ferrari, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Mercedes, Porsche, Alpine, and Triumph. Considering the presence of some modern supercars as well, the car collection at the Terre di Canossa 2026 will offer the public a timeline spanning almost 100 years of automotive history.
The destination for the first day: Liguria. The route passed through Massa, Carrara, the stunning marbles of Carrara road, before diverting into Lunigiana, crossing the charming village of Sarzana, and heading to Porto Lotti for lunch, set against the backdrop of the Gulf of Poets.
From Porto Lotti, the route then took the path of the Cinque Terre, allowing the crews to experience a dreamlike journey between sky and sea. After a stop in the seaside village of Lerici, the Terre di Canossa made its way back to Forte dei Marmi.
After the first timed trials, here are the provisional standings for the first day:
- Historic Cars: leading is Crew 15, consisting of Gustavo Galfione and Maria Cristina Sueyras, driving a Triumph TR2.
- Modern Cars: in first place are Giorgio Tenucci and Isabella Guida from Crew 66, driving an Abarth 595.”
Today’s Ability test, which involved finding the Pinocchio signs, was won by crew 11, consisting of Markus Himmels and Ilze Helmink from the Marylebone Racing Club, driving an AC ACE Bristol.
Tomorrow’s day will be fully dedicated to the beauty of Tuscany, including the enchanted forests of Garfagnana, Collodi and its Pinocchio Park, and Montecatini Terme. The 2026 edition is dedicated to the memory of Carlo Collodi, author of the timeless fairy tale The Adventures of Pinocchio, on the bicentenary of his birth. The medieval walls of Lucca are set to welcome the crews for a spectacular parade in the afternoon. The return to Forte dei Marmi will then pass through Camaiore and Viareggio.
