Lucca and Pisa: art cities with ancient splendor

Leg 2 of Terre di Canossa begins with the discovery of Tuscany’s artistic and architectural heritage

March 29, 2022: The 12th edition of Terre di Canossa will pass through two of Tuscany’s most beautiful art cities: Lucca, characterized by immense historical and monumental treasures, and Pisa, an open-air museum known throughout the world for its emblematic leaning tower.

Renowned for its intact 16th-17th century walls surrounding the medieval city center, Lucca on Saturday April 23 will greet the participants with a parade of flag-wavers on the ancient walls, bringing to life the historic and festive atmosphere of the city.

The crews will then continue their itinerary towards Pisa reaching Piazza dei Cavalieri, known in medieval times as Piazza delle “Sette Vie”. Pisa, ancient administrative and political center, has retained the charm given to it in the Medici age by the architect Giorgio Vasari, captivating anyone who crosses it.
